UAE Work Visa
Entry Visa Visa requirements vary greatly between nationalities and regulations should be checked before travelling. Generally though EU passports pose no issues. Citizens from many countries get an automatic holiday visa that is valid for 30days. This visa can be extended for another 30 days cost of apx 150Euros.
To work in Dubai you require sponsorship from a company and if all the paperwork is in order this process takes apx 3 –4 weeks. Your spouse then is sponsored by the employee for example the wife / husband and children will be sponsored by spouse who is sponsored by the company he/ she is working for.
Employment visas are valid for two years and then must be renewed. The process is generally simple and straightforward, but all paperwork must be in order.
If you move to United Arab Emirates to take up a job offer your employer is obliged to sponsor you. The companies PRO – personnel regulations officer will handle most of the paperwork.
Important Paperwork for Working Visa:
- Attested Education Certs
- Birth Certificate – attested
- 30 passport photos – white background (30 are to allow for extra as required for schools, Emirates ID etc…)
- Police Clearance Report
- Medical Test
Note: To be accepted by authorities here your education certificates must be verified by a solicitor or public notary in your home country, then by the department of foreign affairs then by the UAE Embassy (Dublin).

This takes about 15 minutes and costs €60 per document. They send all your documents onto the Embassy. It takes 10 working days to get everything back from the Embassy.
Driving Licence: Citizens from Ireland and other countries are eligible for a UAE licence. Note if you do not have a valid licence the process is quite costly and time- consuming to attain a UAE licence.
Emirates ID card: This is very important and is used as the main form of ID; your residence visa will stay in your passport.
